The Color Story

What is your shade of gold? Gold can be alloyed with other metals to produce varying colors to match your mood and sense of fashion.

In fact, because of new technology, you can now choose from a stunning kaleidoscope of golden colors. Though gold’s real hue is a beautiful warm golden yellow, gold can be alloyed with other metals to produce varying colors which include: rose, white, peach, green, apricot, brown, purple, and black, which is sure to suit every mood and style. Gold alloys are usually a mixture of silver, copper and zinc and the amounts of each can be varied to affect the final color.

Your color guide choice: yellow gold, is the rich, warm colour of natural gold as it is found; white gold is achieved by adding larger amounts of silver to the alloy. Zinc, nickel and palladium are also used to “whiten” the gold; rose or red gold is achieved by adding more copper alloy to the gold and has a rich rosy vintage hue; and green gold, though less common than rose or white gold, is sometimes used to create subtle details, and is affected by using a cadmium and silver alloy.

But, whatever color you choose, just remember they’re all real gold. It’s just a matter of fashion and personal taste, and although yellow gold is the color of the moment, why not mix and match different colors of gold to suit your mood and taste, just like you do with your own make-up to create your own individual and special look.

Your style guide choice: women who have a cool pale-toned blonde look always look wonderful in soft white or pink gold jewelry; the warmer, honey-toned blonde should wear bright yellow gold to reflect her glowing skin; burnished redheads are the obvious naturals for red gold – as its rich coppery hue enhances their own coloring; and if you have darker, rather exotic looks, white or black gold will be flattering.
